The first African American neurosurgeon is called Clarence Sumner Greene Sr. He was born on December 26, 1901 and received his M.D. from the Howard University of medicine in 1936. After that Clarence became the first African American neurosurgeon certified by the American board of neurological surgery on the 22nd October 1953. Soon after he became the chair of Neurosurgery at the Howard University.
