High school or equivalent education is the only requirement in California and other states. However, if you have some college education background, it will be helpful. Also, there are not many schools or institutions offering a formal education or training for the dispenser examination unless you enroll in some colleges offer you the courses.

I recommend you just find a decent Audiology book and sample exam book for the exam. Once you study, you will know automatically what you need to study more in different areas. Personally, I usually spent 3 hours a day for 2 and half months for the written exam and passed the exam at first trial. After you pass the written, you need to pass the practical exam.
