How is pollution affecting manatees?

When people decide they want to throw trash away they just use the ocean as their giant trash can.God did not put this beautiful ocean on earth just to be ruined. As a community it is our job to clean up the mess we left. Manatees have had a great influence on this and in fact are on the red endangered list all because of us. Earth would be a much better place if humans just left! But unfoutunatly we can't because their isn't the technology yet. So that's why we should start cleaning up NOW!

Not only are manatees important food items for humans, but provide some of the softest leather of any animal. Commercial breeding attempts have been so far unsuccessful, so they are still extensively hunted. They are, however, prolific breeders, having a gestation period of just a few months, and producing between twelve and eighteen eggs at a time. A mature, healthy female manatee can breed again only a week after giving birth.

Mainly the danger of boats. The propeller of the boat can hurt the manatee very badly, and cause it to die in some cases. This is why use must use low wake in manatee areas, so the manatees can flee.
