Working stress method of design based on the elastic theory in which materials, concrete and steel are assumed to be stressed well below their elastic limit under the design loads. Working stressess (permissible stress) for the materials are determined by dividing the ultimate or yield stressess by suitable factor of safety values.

Limit state method of design based on limit state concept, te structure shall be designed to withstand safely all loads liable to act on it throughout its life;It shall also satisfy the serviceability requirements, such as limitations on deflection and cracking. The acceptable limit for the safety and serviceability requirements before failure occurs is called a "limit state". The aim of design is to achieve acceptable probabilities that the structure will not become unfit for the use for which is intended, that is that it will not reach a limit state...

coming to the working-stress method we just consider the live loads and dead loads but where as in limit state method a structure is designed for an ultimate loading considering all the factor of safety's

What is the half split fault location technique?

half split technique is a fault finding method in which faulty area is compared with one of the similar working area. in hydraulic rig, say if cylinder B is not working, we compare it against another working cylinder, say cylinder A. By comparing we collect data and determine the difference between both working and non working components. i.e. what is the status of incoming and out going flow in both (working and non working) components? are both pressurized only when it should? etc. AA

Working of thermocouple?

A device for accurate measurement of temperature difference between two junctions. A thermocouple consists of two dissimilar metals joined at two joints in a loop so that the difference in voltage can be measured. If the temperature of one junction is known, the other junction temperature can be calculated. Since voltage changes in proportion to temperature, the voltage difference indicates temperature differences.

What is the difference between the working voltage and test proof voltage for dielectric footwear?

Working Voltage is the voltage at which the boot is safe at. Test Proof voltage is what the boot was tested up to before it failed. However you must keep in mind that if you are in wet conditions that can significantly lower the rating of the boot. Also voltage does not kill you it is the amperage.
