No, the noun 'grandchild' is a common noun, a general word for any offspring of someone's son or daughter; a word for any grandchild of anyone.

No, grandson is not a proper noun and generally speaking shouldn't be capitalized. An exception would be if someone is using grandson in place of a person's name. For example, "Will you please carry in the groceries for me, Grandson?"
