The lame duck period of the president is the period that the current president knows that he will not be reelected, during the lame duck period of the Buchanan presidency the South seceded from the United states without effort from Buchanan to stop it. Buchanan stated that as president he had no constitutional right to stop it. Buchanan's otherwise uncontroversial presidency was badly marred by his lack of effort to stop the South from seceding.
Govener Jodi Rell is a lame duck because she is working beyond the election even if she is not reelected
The lame duck period is the period of time in which an elected official is coming to the end of their term and a new candidate has been elected to the position. With the impending end of their term coming up, some officials become fairly ineffective during this time.
Lame duck is referred to the period of time between the election and the new office holders take office. There is no incentive for the old office holders to do any work. The expression originated in the 1700's to refer to a broker who was delinquent in their debts. In the late 1860's it began to be used as a term to describe weak and ineffective politicians. It now is typically used to describe elected officials near the end of their last term.If you're playing howrse: see the related questions.
Lame as an idiom: one def could be "out of touch"... Ex: II prefer a walkman than an mp3... He's so lame other definition: a completely uninteresting person: I don't wanna keep talkin to her, she's so lame....
Lame is a real word, laim, however is not. so, in the spelling, the answer is no. Lame can either mean something that can't walk properly, usually a horse, or it is American teenage slang for something that is rubbish, not what the person wanted or expected. a Lamo (lame-o) is a person who is 'lame'.

The Lame Duck Congress was created on 2000-11-08.
The 22nd constitutional amendment is not a direct cause of Lame-duck presidents. A Lame-duck president will result anytime a new president is elected. The only real impact this amendment has on this occurance is that it guarantees that a lame-duck occurs every 8 years at the latest, as a president cannot be elected to a third term. Before this amendment it was traditional for a president not to seek a third term as President Washington eschewed a third term. Franklin Roosevelt was the only president to be elected to a third term, or a fourth term for that matter, the amendment was a reaction to the length of his presidency. Thus, before this amendment, lame-duck presidents were already occurring regularly and are not the result of this amendment. Hope that helps.
