What do you say to someone you haven't seen in a long time?

It depends on the relationship you have/had with them. Something like, "hey, how are you doing? or "how have you been it's so good to see you" or "wow, you look great, it's so good to see you...I've missed you"...or whatever your feelings are towards that person. Answer You can say, I really miss you and would love to see you, see your face, hear your voice. ---- You can also say hey how are you long time no see i really missed you.

A simple Hi! or Hello! would be a good start. (Just like all other conversations.) It would be good to ask about how they've been, and don't talk a whole lot about yourself, unless they ask you a question. If that doesn't start up a conversation, you can ask them they "old" questions, saying: I know you're probably tired of people asking you this, but hows school? It doesn't always have to be school, but something like that.

Don't be awkward about it, just treat it like a conversation that you have everyday. If your friend seems uncomfortable, talk about some things that you used to talk about a lot. That will most likely bring back old memories (hopefully good ones) and your friend won't be uncomfortable anymore.

Well this has actually happened to me a lot lately on the train with many of my old classmates just kind of showing up. But usually your reaction depends on what sort of space you are in.

So try to be friendly :) smile at them if they walk past you quickly in the shopping center at least acknowledge them. Otherwise I have found it gets a little awkward when you are both trying to ignore/pretend you didn't see the other. (especially in confined spaces). Then after that just ask them how they have been, what they are doing/been up to ask them if they still do the same things that they used to when you knew them. Play off some memories. Talk about teachers you hated. Funny times. Jobs/careers. etc.

Just remember that it is only as awkward as you make it :)
