Elizabeth looks on the world and people in general with an eye ready to censure if she sees things wrong or corrupt. Jane on the other hand forgives people and sees them as better than they are no matter what they do.

Elisabeth is intelligent, well-balanced, cultivated. She has a healthy sense of humour and she refuses to take part in her mother's hunt for suitable sons-in-law. She expects more from life than a comfortable married life. She is concerned with things beyond her mother's comprehension, as Mrs. Bennet can only talk of a handful of topics: the latest fashion, suitable husbands, the prospects of the other girls in town, her future after Mr. Bennet's death, her nerves/headaches.
