They were invented by trebor basset arter WWI and were named peace babies there was a shortage during WWII due to stortage of equipment. then they were officially named Basset Jelly Babies.actually my great great grandad.my grandad had a sweet factory in sheffield and he invented jelly babies then passed the recipie on.our family have only just found about this and have the pictures to prove that he had a sweet factory and his employees made jelly babies.. did trebor get the recipe off him...
