Raw pineapple must be dipped in salty water if it is going to be eaten fresh. I don't think it's toxic, but the fresh pineapple has a certain bacteria in it that makes your throat hurt very badly.

∙ 7y agoApparently, eating an unripe pineapple can cause throat irritation, excessive diarrhea and severe vomiting. That might be what is meant by "pineapple poisoning".
