It is hard to nail it down, as there was a series of books- sort of domestic settled westerns, as opposed to Gunsmoke types- dealing with the Ingalls family and written by the author Laura Ingalls Wilder- not to be confused with the modern Aviatrix Laura Ingalls. They were a series, Ms Wilder died in l957 the western writer) so it is probable there were more than one hands behind the pen and typewriter. Therefore it is difficult to tie the plot down. Tended towards a downbeat ( Hard times) type of domestic saga as opposed to more action oriented Gunsmoke. ( I am familiar with the television series- the TV series used plots written by different authors, many were inaccurate- one dealing with a man having shell shock ( or something like it) on a construction site used the Count Down in a blasting (foundation) operation in the l870"s when the whole idea of a count-down only came out in Science Fiction in the twenties=-it was not and is not used on Construction sites,. A code of whistles or bells is used to time the shots and warn people to stand clear. So there are errors aplenty. iT IS difficult to be specific- the series ran for some years and was a domestic- family drama- not the dominant Western mode- again quite different from Gunsmoke, Virginian, Bonanza, etc.
