When was Tinkerbell made?

Tinkerbell was first introduced in the story Peter Pan written in 1900. Disney brought her to life in his movie Peter Pan and made her "real" in the 1950's when he opened Disneyland. She would fly every night from Space Mountain to the Castle ( they may still do this). I remember having a pin I bought in Disneyland about 1959 that would change pictures and said "I love Tink" so she has been around awhile. I find it interesting in the new interest in her and the things with her picture these days.
