What are the characteristic of stratosphere?

It is the outer most layer of atmosphere. The air is very thin and there is no difinite outer limit. It is so hot because sunlight stikes the thermoshphere first. Nitrogen and oxygen molecules convert energy into heat. Thermoshphere doesn't contain enough air molecules to collide with. Lower layer of theromsphere is ionoshphere and the outer portion is exosphere.
