Where is it on the Periodic Table? The metals (which make up most elements) go from group 1 all the way to the "staircase" that winds its way from boron (B) down to polonium (Po). Everything to the right of that staircase is a non-metal. A small handful of elements which ride the staircase are metalloids, and those have properties of both.
