It completely depends on what sort of a city you're in, and what class level aprt of the city because in some places, four blocks may be a far cry shorter than a single kilometer, and in others (say in Maaschtricht in the Netherlands for example) in the rich section of the city, where properties are much larger, 4 blocks may easily be over a kilometer. Also,t ehre really is no set rules, but I would suggest that if it is less than a kilometer, sue meters, if it is over 1.5 kilometers, say kilometers.
How many meters have a block? There are 10 blocks in one square meter. Always remember that one block is equal to four hundred fifty mm by two hundred twenty five mm and is 0.101 square meters.
City blocks are all different. Many are about 100 metres to a side.
City blocks are of no set distance

100 meters=0.1 kilometers
100 meters = 109.36 yards.
200 meters is 200,000 millimeters.
About 3 blocks. Depends on the city, though, and on the particular blocks; there are of course individual differences. I was told that in Brasilia, they have blocks of about 500 meters each, instead of the usual 100.About 3 blocks. Blocks come in different sizes; typically around 100 meters each.
Blocks are not all the same size.

100 meters = 109.36 yards (rounded)
1000
49m * 49 m = 2401 m2 200 mm * 100 mm = 20,000 mm2 = 0.02 m2 So number of blocks = 2401/0.02 = 120,050
1 kilometer = 1000 meters 100 kilometers = 100 x 1000 meters = 100,000 meters
