This is the best means of preservation of ancient materials. It happens only rarely. The animal must be continually frozen from the time of death until discovery. That limits the possibilities to cold hardy animals from the last ice age. There have been remarkable discoveries of mammoth and wooly rhinoceros found in ice from Alaska and Siberia. Specimens with flesh, skin, and hair intact have been found. Some of these finds suggest that they were flash frozen, with food still in the mouth and stomach.

Body fossils are made out of remains of plants and animals that have been preserved in rock or sediment. The original material of the organism is often replaced by minerals, creating a cast or replica of the organism's original structure. Hard parts of the organism, such as bones, shells, or teeth, are commonly preserved as body fossils.
Fossil.
Some examples of remains preserved in the Earth's crust include fossils of plants, animals, and microorganisms, as well as minerals, shells, and even ancient human artifacts. These remains provide valuable insights into the history of life on Earth and past geological processes.
Well there are 3 types of fossils: Petrified Fossils, Molds and Cast, and Preserved Remains. Petrified Fossils are the organisms buried in the layers of sediment. Molds and Casts are the organisms, like shells, buried by sediments, in which they gradually dissolve. Preserved Remains are the organisms preserved in other substances. For example, entire organisms, such as huge elephant-like mammoths that lived thousands of years ago, have been preserved in ice. Therefore, Preserved Remains is a major type of fossil that does not form in sediments. This can be formed by decades of being stuck in the ice age and eventually falling through the ice and never getting out. Since you cant get out you get frozen! Being frozen and preserved in another type of substance in called... Preserved Remains! --Hope this could help. Thanks for reading.:)

The remains of an animal. -------------------------- Fossils are the remains of a dead plant or animal that have been preserved for a long time.
Preserved remains of a living thing are called fossils. Fossils can be bones, shells, imprints, or traces of ancient organisms that have been preserved in rocks. They provide valuable information about past life forms and environments.
