Twins can be formed by two ways. The female can release two (or more) eggs at once, instead of one. Then the sperm fertilizes both of the eggs and then the offspring will NOT look alike. These are referred to as Fraternal Twins (triplets +). Woman using fertility drugs tend to produce more than one egg at a time.
The other way for a twin to be formed is when the egg goes through misoeis (i think that is how you spell it.) it will finish and for an odd reason go through mitosis. Mitoses is used for when a cell wants to reproduce. (The egg, after it is fertilized, splits into to separate, or even three, individuals.) It is used for when your cells in your body need more cells. This will make the offspring IDENTICAL.
She never has triplets. She has twins.

Yes, I have two sets of twins, and one set of triplets.
Not very often. It is more common for a cow to have twins than triplets: triplets occur maybe 1:100,000 births. A cow will have twins 1:1000 births.

It literally means "same egg". The term is used to refer to multiple births (twins, triplets etc.) It is a fancy way to say identical twins. Heterozygous twins did not develop from the same egg but two (or more) different eggs. They are also called fraternal twins.
