Yes and No... If you have had a few drinks and feel like crashing, then yes. IF however, you have drank so much that you are vomiting and or passing out, then NO. Unresponsiveness can be mistaken for sleep and can cost lives. If you or a friend has been drinking way too much, call the police and have them taken to a hospital.
Medically I cannot offer an opinion, but from personal experience the effect is all but pleasing. I went to dinner and had 2 beers came home and took an Ambien, which I was prescribed to at the time. The dreams that followed were, in fact, not dreams at all. They were pure nightmares. I woke up countless times because of this and have no reason to blame anything except for the Ambien/alcohol interaction.
Just the opposite, alcohol suppresses REM sleep. That's why after a really good night out on the town, you sleep all day because you've been deprived of restorative, mainly REM sleep. MA, RPSGT
Yes. Alcohol makes you sleepy at first, but you don't sleep well and you keep waking up.
REM sleep is, if any, barely affected by drinking.
If you mean do oranges keep you awake at night, they shouldn't unless you have acid reflux. That could definitely keep you awake. If you mean the color...yeah, it keeps me awake cuz its so bright.
