Sorry to be so vague, but there really isn't a simple answer to that. It depends on what's done. A routine autopsy examination takes a couple of hours. Histology/pathology/toxicology studies could take a week or so. If the cause of death is unknown (and not pretty obvious once the doctor starts looking ... "Oh, here's the problem; his head is missing"), it could take even longer than that as more and more exotic and esoteric tests are tried.
