Clinical answer: The blood (or whatever, what little I know suggests there's more than just blood) comes from a coating that forms in the urethra, thus providing nutrients for a fertilized egg to draw on, and enabling the development of the placenta, umbilical cort and fetus, which hopefully becomes a healthy baby in 9 months. A woman's period is a refresh stage of the cycle - having not successfully developed an embryo during ovulation, the old layer is shed allowing a new one to begin to form, much like skin.

Yes it should. If it didnt then it wouldn't be a period. During ur period, blood comes out cuz of somtin goin on in ur body. I don't wanna give u much of a lessen here so im just gonna tell u that u can find out on the internet or even ask ur mom, a nurse, even ur doctor. Kinda gross but its wat happens.;)
