20 years old - the brain is done with most of the growing phase and it's at that age that a lot of people are starting to realize that they are free to really do what they want, and able to actually respond to this freedom.
acid opens doors that might be frustrating to have opened but not be able to act on them because of being too young and controlled by adults.
also at 20 years and older, tripping has more depth to it because of the natural development of a 20 year-old person's mind.

However, LSD has never completely gone out of use, so you will also find younger people who have been affected by it.
