Pain in the "tailbone", otherwise known as coccydynia ["pain in the tailbone"]reflects an inflammation of the coccyx. Can be a fracture if the patient fell on the tailbone. Can be seen in hard deliveries especially when the baby is quite large... Treated by anti-inflammatory meds, ice, heat, and occasionally by steroid injections. If the pain is severe and unrelenting, and no cure can be found, surgical removal of the coccyx is accomplished.

i too had sufferd from this my tailbone hurted so much . anyways this cause is maybe because you are holding something that is way too heavy you should have plenty of rest and try seeing a doctor if this "cause" is getting worse i suggest you try to lay down sleep, rest and avoid excersicing ,walking aloth cause the tail bone is connected to the spine i think but its located in the back and if you lift weights dont its going to make it worst again rest avoid lifting heavy things and if you go to school ect use a backpack that has wheels that you can roll it will be better that to hold heavy stuff all on your back so try to feel better i hope this information helped you

It's usually just a muscle. You should keep an eye on it. If the back still hurts really bad after a couple of days, talk to your doctor. If it gets better day after day, you'll be fine. Just take some Motrin, (A.K.A. ibuprofen) and you'll be fine.
