Why is smoking bad for the fetus when pregnant?

Just as usual, smoking harms you so its going to harm your baby. its more likely the baby will get asthma because its damaging both the baby and your lungs. I advise you to not smoke whilst pregnsnt as it can leave some bad results to the baby.

beause the smoking can give your baby some problems im not saying it will happen to you im saying people who smoke all the time should at least only do 1 cigarette a week because that way you can smoke and enjoy your smoke.
because you are passing toxins to the baby through blood! it could harm your baby and also yourself, baby could come out with defects, and its not fair if a women smokes whilst pregnant.
The smoke from a cigarette contains about 4000 chemicals, of which about 400 are known to be toxic. (This does not mean the other 3600 are safe!) Some, or perhaps all, of these chemicals can pass into the foetus. Ignoring the long term effects, some of these chemicals cause birth defects. You will also end up with a baby that is in effect going "cold turkey" (Try stopping smoking, and then imagine how the baby feels!) The best suggestion i can offer is to not get pregnant until after you have stopped smoking. If you want a baby, fine, quit first.
As well as nicotine (which contracts blood vessels and increases blood pressure, leading to Heart disease) and tar (which can lead to lung cancer), tobacco smoke has many other toxic materials in it including hydrogen cyanide, and chemicals called betanaphthylamines - both of which are incredibly toxic. Whilst the small quantities of these chemicals may not immediately effect the mother, they are easily absorbed into the bloodstream, and hence can ( and will) be passed on to the developing baby in the womb. As the baby is much smaller than the mother and his or her cells and organs are still developing, these poisonous substances have a much greater effect. Research has shown that women who smoke during pregnancy on average give birth to babies that are underweight, underdeveloped and prone to all manner of health problems both as children and later in life. Whilst a pregnant woman can choose whether or not to pollute her own body with cigarette smoke, it is the height of irresponsibility that she should do so to her own child. There is only one word that befits smoking during pregnancy. Don't.

Smoking takes oxygen out of your blood. Your baby needs all the extra oxygen your body is taking in. This loss of oxygen to the baby causes low birth weight and or brain damage

and because it is and that's really stupid if you smoke any way you are not just hurting you but your hurting others around you and that's very dumb and you hurting you body and organs heart lungs and a lot others
