NO. It is a semi synthetic narcotic and a ketone of codeine, but it was synthesized as to not being codeine. It is 8 times stronger than codeine on a weight to weight bases, and instead of a 2.5 hour half life, it has a 3.8 hour half life. It is also a bitartrate, rather than a sulfate base.
As a pharmacy doctorate candidate, I would strongly recommend against using Oxycontin and hydrocodone together. They are similar medications with similar uses and may result in a potentially fatal overdose. If you considered taking these two medications together because you are still in pain, talk to your doctor about other treatment options.
Should you take codeine and hydrocodene at the same time
Not recommended as respiratory depression is a risk as well as strong fatigue.
I was just told by my doctor that they contain too much Tylenol to take together. Either take one or the other. However, the only effects of taking both are excessive drowsiness. Your call.
Only if you want to risk cardiac arrest.
Oxycontin (oxycodone) is just a stronger version of Vicodin (hydrocodone), so yes, you can mix them together. Just be very careful not to take too much and overdose.
Lortab and Vicodin are both forms of hydrocodone. Oxycontin is the controlled-release form of oxycodone. Oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone.
Im not sure if im reading the question right but if u mean is it the same when it breaks down the answer is no. Oxycontin is percocet (oxycodone). and the hydrocodone is vicodin. two completely different medications all together. They both do work on pain but are different. The Oxycontin is oxycodone but in a continuous release formula that where the oxy+contin comes from. Hydrocodone is a separate medicine in it own. Hope this helps.
Tylox is acetaminophen and hydrocodone.
Hydrocodone is not as strong as oxycodone. In fact after being on Oxycontin for nearly 5 years, hydrocodone will not even keep me from being dope sick.
Lortab is the brand name for hydrocodone and acetaminophen (tylenol). Hydrocodone is not the same as oxycodone and oxycodone is much stronger than hydrocodone. Oxycodone drugs include OxyContin, Percocet, etc. So a simple answer, oxycodone is stronger.
Definitely yes
vicodin is hydrocodone and Oxycontin is oxycodone.
Hydrocodone and Oxycontin contain the same active drug... oxycodone. So 10mg of Hydrocodone and 10 mg of Oxycontin have the same amount of Oxycodone (10 mg) in them. The only difference is that the Hydrocodone contains Tylenol in addition to the Oxycodone. So on the Hydrocodone bottle it might say something like 10/500. So the Hyrocodone in that instance has 10 mg of oxycodone and 500mg of Tylenol.
Vicodin* is a brand name for hydrocodone, which is different than oxycodone. The two are quite similar as they are both derived from codeine. Oxycodone however is about 50% stronger than hydrocodone (vicodin).
They are similar in that both are synthetic opioids. However, OxyContin is a brand name containing the generic oxycodone. Hydrocodone is a generic name used with the brand names Vicodin or Lortab. Hydrocodone is less powerful than oxycodone. Thus, OxyContin is more powerful than hydrocodone.
because hydrocodone is an opiate, it will show up as an opiate in your system. so will codeine, morphine, Oxycontin, and other opiate derivatives.
