Put the top flat bit under each armpit then hold the handles half way down with your hands and each time you would use your bad leg put the weight on the crutches instead and swing the good leg through.

you can buy them at the hospital and if they don't sell them there you could ask one of the doctors and they would know.
You can try a charitable organisation like the Red Cross to loan them or purchase a pair in the disability shop.

crutches are 'des béquilles' in French.
Physical therapy exercises, incision care, and use of assistive devices such as crutches or splints
Sorry but you can't
The proper way to use crutches is to place your weight on your hands, not under your arms. Crutches should be adjusted so that when you are using them, there is space between your armpit and the top of the crutches. If you are already using the crutches correctly yet you still have an irritated nerve you can try different crutches that wrap around your forearms, or use a walker or wheelchair.
Put on an Ace bandage, buy your crutches and voila! I understand though, that walking and living with crutches is no picnic for the shoulders.
I have a broken leg right now and i was scared to go into the hospital. When you are there and you have your cast on or your operation done its ok. If you need anything you just ask the nurse. If your in school and have a broken bone then everyone is really nice but they would be a bit shocked if you had crutches.
