Why did stonewall Jackson died?

Stonewall Jackson died on May 10, 1863 after the Battle of Chancellorsville when he was accidentally shot by a Confederate soldier. Jackson had to have his arm amputated at which time he caught pneumonia and died a few days later.

He did catch pneumonia, but he first accidentally got shot by his own teamate. The reason was is because no one could see each other, and so Stonewall Jackson got shot in the arm and it got amputated. Then in the hospital he caught pneumonia and died.

As Jackson and his staff were returning to camp on May 2, they were mistaken for a Union cavalry force by the 18th North Carolina Infantry regiment who shouted, "Halt, who goes there?", but fired before evaluating the reply. Frantic shouts by Jackson's staff identifying the party were replied to by Major John D. Barry with the retort, "It's a damned Yankee trick! Fire!" A second volley was fired in response; in all, Jackson was hit by three bullets, two in the left arm and one in the right hand. Jackson died of complications from pneumonia on May 10, 1863.

James whitten day said they only had a hundred or so troops . he also told other stories about robbing rail trains with a weird guerrilla group he met. there is told that VA. jewel ridge VA. there is buried gold confederate gold on Jewell ridge MTN. in VA. were James whitten day lies buried.

But from the number of different accounts, you can tell that parts of the story were being covered up.

It had something to do with the sentry challenging Jackson's party as they rode back from a patrol, covered in dust, and the sentry couldn't tell whether the uniforms were grey or blue.

The party started to answer, but the sentry got nervous and shot them all out of hand. One version says that he thought one of them was answering up in a fake Southern accent.

It is known that a Major Barry had shouted "It's a d**n Yankee trick!", which may have provoked the shootings. Certainly Major Barry blamed himself for the death, and died of a broken heart not long after the war.

Stonewall did not die at once. His left arm had to be amputated, but he seemed to be recovering. He refused the offer of a bed in a house, and died of pneumonia a few days later. A mysterious note was found pinned to his chest, claiming that he had been assassinated. Nobody knows who wrote this, but some say he wrote it himself.
