There are approximately 2,500 Canadians in Afghanistan at present, including a battle group of about 900 front-line soldiers and a brigade headquarters as well as support staff (cooks, clerks, mechanics, medics, military police, and a complete field hospital with military doctors and nurses).

Every six months a new group of soldiers rotates in to replace the outgoing troops (every February and August).
