The Saxons built a shield wall along Senlac Hill so no matter how much they tried, the Normans could not break through. Finally, the Normans pretended to retreat to lure the Saxons after them so that there would be a hole in the shield wall. After this, legend says that the Saxons were killed and King Harold was shot in the eye by an arrow. This was as the Normans were shooting arrows into the air, targeting for the faces!
