Oliver Cromwell turned down the crown because he had signed for Charles I to be killed, he felt guilty to take the position because it would look like he killed him to become King.
He also refused it due to pressure from the New Model Army who had originally given him his power. Cromwell felt that God had already determined that England was not to be ruled by a monarch as demonstrated in the defeat of Charles I in the Civil Wars.
It seemed the thing to do at the time. After all, he was ruling the country in a more absolute way than Vharles I had ever done, having got rid of Parliament and relying on the Army for his authority. Perhaps, also, like Julius Caesar, he wanted to be offered a crown and refuse it, thus publishing his republican principles, which were about as genuine as Caesar's.
Oliver Cromwell never actually became king, he was offered the crown but he refused it.
because he did not want the shame of the crown upon him
he fought to upturn the king, who he believed to be a tyrant and disagreed with divine right. Had he become king himself it would have been very hypocritical of him.
They were the same age, and used to play together as children.
Because it was against god providence he said in a speech
They wanted return of the monarchy
because he needed to be head of the army instead
Oliver Cromwell was leader of the Commonwealth not the king. He worked as the head of parliament who had a very big say in running the country. He was the first leader of the country who had no royal blood. He was the only parliamentarian who did not want to execute James 1, however he still signed his death warrant.
There is no historical evidence to suggest that Charles II wanted Oliver Cromwell's body to be dug up. In fact, it was actually Charles II who ordered for Cromwell's body to be exhumed and posthumously executed as an act of revenge against Cromwell for his role in the execution of Charles I, his father.
Because Oliver Cromwell's son didn't want to follow his father's footsteps, and everyone was fed up of puritanism. So they brought him back, and he arrived on his birthday from France.
Oliver Cromwell was a puritan but he didn't let other people play games and he didn't let the church bells to be rung. Oliver Cromwell had some harsh rules such as he didn't let children play football on Sundays or you would have been whipped in public and if you wanted to go to church but you went to the church in another village then you would be fined 50 pence which in those days was alot of money. Oliver Cromwell also stopped the bells and he didn't want the stained glass windows in the church so he took them out and put plain windows in. In my eyes he was a hipercrit because he didn't let you listen to music and play games but he liked listening to music and he did but he punished other people for doing it.by Becky London (who is gay)
because he needed to be head of the army instead
because he decieved many people and cromwell didnt want it to happen again and because the king lost 2 wars and cromwell thought it must of been gods will and that god was angry with cromwell.
After he won the Civil War for Parliament, Oliver Cromwell became 'Lord Protector' which basically means like a king but not passed on to your descendants. He was offered the crown but he didn't want to be king so he called himself Lord Protector instead

the English civil war was won by Oliver Cromwell (a member of the parliament) who was fighting for democracy. since he won the war, the parliament executed Charles I because of the charge of treason against him. England eventually became a democratic government. at first, the parliament ruled the country, but eventually, they couldn't seem to do the job, so they asked Oliver Cromwell to rule the country, since he was the most enthusiastic suitable and for the job. Oliver Cromwell refused, because he didn't want to have had killed the king just to take his place as king. so he ruled as the government, and kept England democratic...
Puritan.
Assuming this refers to The English Civil War, and Oliver Cromwell - no-one was "covered in warts."Oliver Cromwell, when having a portrait painted, famously instructed the artist to depict him "warts and all," meaning he did not want the portrait to be unrealistically flattering. He had no more warts than anyone else.
He didn't do it on purpose, basically he raised taxes because he had waisted all of his money and was very unpopular. He demanded that the Scots use an English prayer book, they rioted and King Charles I sent an army to calm them down. This plan did not work and the Scots invaded the North of England.

He was offered the crown, I believe & turned it down. In spite of his undoubted talent & devotion I find Cromwell easy to dislike as a personality: Sorry if that offends you.
