Banana slugs, and all arthropods, do not have teeth; they have no bones of any kind, and instead depend upon their chitinous exoskeleton for structural support and for any cutting or piercing tools that they may require. Banana slugs have mouth parts made of chitin (which is a type of protein similar to keratin, the protein from which human hair and fingernails is made). These are not teeth although they perform a similar function.
