Dusting and pluggingare ways to rid a house foundation of bees.

Specifically, exterminators don protective clothing - through which stingers cannot penetrate - from head to foot. They have to carry a flashlight - since the deed must be done at night - and the insecticide. The insecticide is most effective in the form of a dust, such as permethrin or Sevin. The flashlight needs to be shone a bit to the side of the opening so as not to aggravate or warn any occupants that are alert instead of resting. The treatment requires releasing 3-4 tentative puffs before squeezing the dispenser's entire contents into the opening.

An effective treatment can be followed 2-3 days later by cleaning the hole, discarding the hole's contents, and plugging. There must be no comb, honey or wax left behind to stain the foundation or welcome other bees or scavengers back to the scene of the extermination.

There is probably a hive nearby. Your best bet is to hire an exterminator. Most bees are africanized, and can be vicious when disturbed, and you have limited protection in a basement.

How do you get rid of bees that are flying into a crack of the foundation of your house?

Be sure they are bees first! Bees have fat round bodies with golden color to the body and circular dark stripes. If this is the case then call a beekeeper and they will use their smoke cans to stun the bees so they can take them away along with the hive (if at all possible.) Bees are becoming almost extinct in the U.S. and Canada and beekeepers are finding hives full of dead bees. Save the bees! If this so called bee has a longated body, golden in color or sometimes dark and may have a small stripe you are probably looking at a hornet or a wasp and they do sting! They will also swarm a person so it's to your best advantage to get an Environmentally conscious Exterminator in to get rid of them. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS YOURSELF!

How can I get rid of bees flying around my house coming from local hives?

You can't control bees. All you can do is make it easier for them to do what you want rather than what they are doing now. For example to stop bees flying across an area at low level, put up a fence so they have to fly over it.
