a nymph has only just been born or only molted a couple times. Adult means that they are done molting


adult cockroaches have wings while nymph cockroaches do not

The nymphs will never sport wings. Most adults will.

I'm guessing your talking about German cockroaches, but overall they are hatched as is, they go through what's called instar stages, which means as they grow older they shed their skins in each stage, but they look the same just a little larger up to approx. 1/4 in. to 3/8in. in length, if memory serves me correctly there are 5 stages.

There are only 2 differences between adult cockroaches and the cockroach nymph. They have underdeveloped wings and genitalia and they will not fully develop for up to 1 year.
