You have to be at least 16 to become a basic EMT and it is required to be a basic EMT before you become a paramedic. There is no age limit on the other end but a paramedic needs to be flexible and able to get up and down off the floor as well as lift a required amount of weight. As long as you can perform the required duties it doesn't matter how old you are as long as you are at least 16 when you take the basic EMT test.
