Legally there is nothing to stop it, but it is a bad idea. Any sexual contact with someone under the age of 13 is a Federal crime. Actually, the 15 year old could be charged with sexual abuse should sex take place. And even if it didn't, all the ten year old would have to do to get them in big trouble is hint that something happened.

Even though there is no actual law against this, but it is a massive risk and a truthfully bad idea. If the 15 year old attempts any sexual contact with someone under 13 it is a Federal charge. The 15 year old can and most likely would be charged with sexual abuse if he attempts any sexual movements or sex. And even if the 15 year old doesn't do anything illegal, the 10 year old can get them in charge just by saying or hinting it even though the 15 year old is innocent.

While there are no laws about dating in any state, such a difference in age is totally wrong. There are laws about sexual contact and in most states you must be at least 16 to consent. Any age below that could result in criminal charges.

No. The 16 year old, depending on which state they live in, is at the age of consent, but the 10 year old is a minor child which makes it illegal. The 16 year old could get into trouble for dating a 10 year old minor child and be charged with rape or child sexual abuse. The age of consent in many states is 16 and in others is 18. At the ages of 10 and 16 it is surprising that a 16 year old would be interested in dating a child because of the difference in life expereince.
