In the UK, vehicles towing caravans and trailers are restricted to the following speed limits.

  • Motorways: 60mph providing lower limits are not in use.
  • Dual carriageways: 60 mph providing lower limits are not in use.
  • Single carriageways: 50 mph providing lower limits are not in use.

It's usually illegal. To be allowed on a motorway you need to be able to drive at a certain speed, and usually it's illegal to tow a vehicle at that speed. Unless you're using a dolly or other special arrangement.
