== William Heirens was incarcerated by the Illinois Department of Corrections on 4 September, 1946. The 79 year old is currently being held at the Dixon Correctional Center, Dixon, Illinois, and has been the state's guest for 61 years. It is possible that he is the longest continuously-held prisoner in the world. Each and every one of them. And if given a life sentence with no parole, they take it. 17 Life sentences. Some guy in Spain got 1276 years. A life sentence is 25 years (short lives we have) so 17 life sentences is 425 years. That equates to about 50.04 life sentences.
