Ferrets shiver because

  • Upon awakening. when they sleep, their body temperatures lower, and they shiver or shake to warm up
  • When they are excited
  • Something may have frightened them, like a loud noise

ferrets shake or shiver (1) upon waking up - when ferrets sleep their heart rate and body temperature lowers and they shiver upon waking to raise their body temperature.

(2) ferrets also shake or shiver when excited

When a ferret sleeps very soundly their blood pressure drops and upon wakening they will shake or shiver to warm up. Ferrets will also shake if excited

Ferrets in generally shake from temperature changes, but otherwise they shouldn't. Try taking it to a vet if this is a reccuring (but relatively new) activity
