Yes, they do . In fact my female dug a burrow and gave birth to three babies in it and it was 4 days before we found them! They will also try to tunnel under fences and can be very good at hiding the entrance to holes they make, mine have the run of the garden though and they don't dig on the lawn just in the soil, hope this helps

All rabbits dig. In the wild both males and females help dig the interconnecting burrows that the entire warren lives in. Although it's often only the females that dig nursery chambers, usually off a lesser used section of tunnel, so they can give birth in peace and quiet. This digging behaviour exists in domestic rabbits as well, who love to shred their cage linings, cardboard boxes, and so forth.

Kind of. I think it depends on the species but raddits will usually dig small ditches about 4-5 inches deep for security and warmth after having offspring.

because wild ones do. it's to make somewhere they will feel safe. give him a box of hay so he will be happy.
