Generally we see images of camels spitting when annoyed but generally they do not really spit . It is more like throwing up. Instead of saliva camels let out some partially digested food. So, when they are angry, they bring up some of the cud. Once this in their mouth they flap their heads. The cuds slides out of their mouth onto their droop lips which fling the cud into the air.
Camels do not spit unless they are agitated or upset, and they really don't spit at all because what they spray is not saliva.
Llamas and camels spit.
Camels may spit as a defense mechanism when they feel threatened or agitated, but it is not a common behavior. It is more common for camels to spit at each other as a way to establish dominance or hierarchy within their group.
