The life span of a bear depends greatly on the species. The well known species and how long they live are: * Grizzly Bear - These bears generally live around 32 years in the wild. * Black Bear - These bears can live anywhere from 25 to 35 years in the wild. * Polar Bear - These bears are though to live no more than 15 to eighteen years, but new tagging devises have allowed biologists to find a few bears that are in their early 30's. This has lead to some dispute about what age they will live to in the wild. In captivity the generally live a lot longer and reach mid to late 30's. One polar bear in a London zoo lived to the ripe old age of 41 years old! * Panda Bear - Scientists have not been able to study the Panda Bear in the wild enough to discover their age range. They do know that it is shorter than that of their life in zoo's, where they live to be about 35 years old.
It depends on what species but brown bears commonly reach 15 and some have been known to live 25 years. All bear species usually live until ten and reach sexual maturity between 3 and 6 years. There is some debate weather a Panda and Giant panda is a bear. Koalas are not bears.
