Deer will only drink water or eat snow to supplement the water they receive in their food. For example, deer eating a diet consisting of succulent vegetation may drink only half the amount of water that they will when eating a diet of dry hardwood browse. In some instances, such as during pregnancy or in drought conditions in the south, liquid water is a diet staple, with deer consuming between 2-3 times as much water as food.

i think they just bend there head down and drink the water
Since Alligators live in water and use this water for shelter, their first thing would be to dip under water (they have an additional eye lid that prevents water from blinding them). Once under water they would slowly move towards the deer making as little sound as possible. When the dear were to bend down to drink from the water, the alligator would suddenly surface, grab the deer, and bring it into the water to drown it before eating it.
