My son is 4'11" 96 pounds. His friends are 5'1" 130 pounds, 4'3"51 pounds and 4'8"63 pounds. Of all of them the 4'3 and my son have the most energy and regular growth cycles. That is the key. As long as your son is well-rested, has energy to play, and is alert and with a good appetite, he is fine. The 4'8" boy has parents going through divorce and has developed eating and social disorders. He has not needed bigger shoes or clothes in 2 years. the 5'1" boy has started playing sports with my son and is on a diet. He is very active in making YouTube videos and acting but not in physically exterting play. Here is a general chart: http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/growthcharts2/l/blboysbirth.htm
