As with Germany at about the same time, the Japanese Army, Air Force, and Navy were virtually gone. The US, in the meantime, had more men, more warships, more tanks, more airplanes, than all the countries in the world put together (friend and foe alike). The US had to dump airplanes, tanks, artillery, into the ocean to make room for returning GI's aboard the ships (operation magic carpet). Tanks, Artillery, Airplanes went straight from the factory assembly lines into the scrap heap for re-cycling.
