Mermaid Melody is the first season in the anime, Mermaid Melody Pure is the 2nd season. In the end of the 1st season, Kaito forgets his memories again and immediately falls in love with another girl that isn't luchia or her mermaid form. In the beginning, it is luchias 'mission' to get kaito's memories back so he can once again remember that she is the same girl as the mermaid and that he loved her before his accident while Surfing.

Mermaid Melody is about Luchia, Hanon and Rina finding new sea princesses to activate Aqua Regina and Mermaid Melody Pure is about Luchia trying to release a new born mermaid from an evil man.
