The earliest dated archaeological settlements in New Zealand, are both from the South Island. The Wairau Bar in Marlborough, and the mouth of the Waihemo river in Otago. These date to the 13th century.
There may have been earlier settlements, which have been destroyed by volcanic activity, or erosion and deposition, but these remain to be discovered.
Recent evidence shows that a tsunami crossed the north Auckland peninsula, and this could destroy evidence for example.

there was a polynesian commtie group formed by the polynesian that wanted to make change, they called them selves the polynesian panthers. they copied the black panthers over in America cause they were dealing with the same thing but they were black vs white.
The first Europeans (and from the US and Australia as well) arrived soon after James Cook had publicized the existence of the seals on the coast of New Zealand. These were soon followed by the Whalers, who need a more capital-intensive industry.
the legend goes that the wife of Kupe (the first polynesian to discover Aotearoa -NZ), first spotted the long line of clouds which indicated the presence of land. So she named this country Aotearoa, meaning the Long White Cloud. Aotea = white cloud Roa = long

Well, it has excellent motorways so you can escape easily. But it is NZ's most populous city. And the World's most populous Polynesian city. And it has the sky tower.
Auckland, New Zealand is the largest city in Polynesia, however only about 30 - 40% of Auckland is Polynesian, however between 40-65 % is of Polynesian descent (including Maori). Around 400,000 of Auckland 1.2 million (approx.) is Polynesian. There are also some inhabitants from all around the Pacific. The next Largest Polynesian city is Honolulu in Hawaii in the most northern part of Polynesia while NZ is the most southerly county in Polynesia.
The first ship to circumnavigate NZ was Captain Cook
