they are far more powerful than anyone else in bleach because they breached the wall between shinigami and hollows. No one else can even feel their spiritual pressure. Aizen beat all the captains at once (including the captain commander yamamoto), and ichigo basically beat Aizen, so they are the most powerful.

Nearly all of the Captain Class Shinigami can be considered as extremely powerful, especially Byakuya Kuchiki, Kenpachi Zaraki and Toshiro Hitsugaya, but suprisingly enough, these are not the people who fight against Aizen.

Going by the last team of Soul Reapers to fight Aizen before Ichigo does, the most powerful would be;

- Head Captain Yamamoto

- Isshin Kurosaki

- Yoruichi Shihouin

- Kisuke Urahara

Then there is also Ichigo himself, who is very powerful although his power is dimished as of the point where he used the Final Getsuga Tensho, and is now slowly losing his Shinigami powers.

Other Extremely powerful characters would be from the "Evil" side. These include most of the Espada, notably Ulquiorra Schiffer and Yami Riyalgo.

It is easier to figure out who isn't the weakest. All I know is that Kenpachi Zaraki isn't the weakest one because he beat Kaname Tousen. Byakuya Kuchiki isn;t because he is the most famous. And the Ist captain isn't because he is the captains. Also it is obvious that Sosuke Aizen isn't because he is heaps strong. I don't think Gin Ichimaru is because he is Sosuke Aizen's Right-hand man and Kaname Tousen isn't. That leaves Soi Fon, Unohana, Kumamaru, Shunsui Kyouraku, Kaname Tousen, Juushirou Ukitake, Mayuri Kurotsuchi and Toushirou Hitsugaya. One of those eight would be the weakest. I think it is Unohana is because she is the captain of the fourth squad and the fourth squad is said to be the weakest of the 13 protection squads.
