Having been alive during the 1970's, and being an Elvis Presley Fan for two decades prior, the answer to your question is YES and NO. Let me explain.

Elvis' name, and accomplishments, were always known in the 1970's. Elvis choice of recordings in the early 1970's placed him back on the Billboard Charts and garnered airplay on the radio stations.

Elvis hit records declined as the 1970's progressed although Elvis played sold out concerts, throughout the United States, all during the 1970's. But, as it pertained to radio airplay, and his positions on the Billboard Charts, Elvis' popularity declined.

As was the case in the 1970's, as it is now, new generations of Elvis Presley Fans emerged and when Elvis (sadly) died on August 16, 1977 his last album (entitled Moody Blue) fast became a multimillion dollar seller.
