There are many different species of beetles, some are primary consumers and some are secondary.

A primary consumer eats producers (plants), and is also known as a herbivore. An example of an beetle that is a herbivore is the Moneilema gigas, a type of Longhorn beetle.

A secondary consumer is also known as a carnivore. It consumes primary consumers (herbivores). An example of a carnivorous beetle is the Clown beetle, bellonging to the Family Histeridae.
