In 1707, at the age of 22, JS Bach married his second cousin, Maria Barbara Bach with whom he had many children, only four of whom survived. Maria died suddenly in May 1720. The following year, Bach married again to Anna Magdalena Wilcken who was the daughter of a musician. She was a singer, harpsichordist and music copyist. She took on the four surviving children from his earlier marriage and produced a further 13.

October 7, 1707 J.S. Bach married his second cousin, Maria Barbara Bach. She died on July 7, 1770. One and one half years after Maria died, J.S. Bach maried Anna Magdalena Wilcke who was 17 years younger than Bach. And- FYI -Just for fun- Bach had 7 children with his first wife and 13 more children with his second wife. Bach himself was the youngest of 6 children. Both of his parents had died by the time he was 10 and he ended up living with his oldest brother.
