Originally? In Science Fiction novels. And if you think I'm kidding, I'll refer to Arthur C. Clarke who in one of his sci-fi books, referred to what we now call, `satellites`. Well, it spawned someone's imagination and now that's exactly what we have.

Then don't forget the `ray gun'. Hmmmm...sounds suspiciously like a laser to me, but of course back in the 40's such a thing didn't exist.

Remember the old Dick Tracy comics with the wrist communicator with a small TV screen? You can buy wrist TV's now, or even an iPod which does so much more.

Brings to mind a favorite saying. `Whatever man can conceive, man can achieve'.

Then that brings to mind another saying and that is, `If it's built by man, it's destined to fail'. Look up the word, `entropy'.
